Vesta Mason

Vesta Helen Mason passed Monday morning, September 17. She resided for the last few years at Brokdale-Kettleman Senior Care in Lodi. She had celebrated her 100th birthday on July 7, 2018.
Vesta was preceded in passing by her husband Herschel “Bud” Mason. Both Vesta and Bud were from families that were very early settlers to the Lodi area. her Mother, Alma Pope Pinkerton’s family came to Lodi by oxen drawn wagon in 1861. They farmed a large property on Victor Road. Her father, James W. Pinkerton, born in Canada, was a foundry pattern maker. They built the Pinkerton Foundry next to their home. Her brother, James W. Pinkerton Junior, operated the foundry until his passing. Her family was always and remains members of the First United Methodist Church of Lodi.
Vesta was a homemaker but always active in social work in Lodi. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, Eastern Star, Rainbow Girls, Campfire Girls, Marc Club and Womens Club and served as president of these groups several terms. Also; including San Joaquin County Historical Society, Lodi Historical Society, Lodi Antique Club and Lodi Wednesday Club. She received many honors and noteworthy awards. Such as; Lodi Womens Club for more than 50 years of service, Nominated Women of the Year by the Soroptimist CLub, the Grand Cross of Color by the Rainbow Girls Club and the Mokelumne Award by the Lodi Historical Society. And it must be mentioned that Vesta and Bud had a great passion for bridge. They both taught many friends the game they loved.
Vesta is survived by her daughter, Carol Lynn Bonadurer (Larry) and son, Douglas B. Mason (Janice). Vesta’s grand children, Jaccqueline Rowland, Christopher Bonadurer and Daniel Mason. And her great grand children, Christine Rowland, Jennifer Rowland and Madison Bonadurer.
The family wishes to extend thanks to the staff at Brookdale-Kettleman and Hospice of San Joaquin.
Interment at Lodi Memorial Cemetery will be private. A memorial service, conducted by Pastor George Edd-Bennett, at First United Methodist Church of Lodi, is scheduled for Saturday, October 6 at 11:00 AM, luncheon to follow. All are welcome.
